I’m so excited, I just can’t hide it!

April 7th, 2008

My life is just one big roller coaster ride! I was looking forward to a weekend off, and had plans to go for a run on Saturday, and a nice long walk on Sunday. Instead I got more than 16 hours of overtime, and a whole lot of stress. When I finally finished up with work at 10:30 Sunday night, I was feeling pretty worn out. Before going to bed, I spent a few minutes catching up with Amy & Tom at the Runner’s Lounge. They had a great post acknowledging some of the people who make The Lounge such a great place. As I read the post I was delighted to see that they were recognizing Nancy , P.O.M and Betsy as they are some of my best BRFs. Imagine my surprise when I got to the end of the post and saw this:

Finally, please give it up for Jodie, also known as Diva, as the most active member of Runners’ Lounge. For her tireless energy and enthusiasm, Jodie wins a membership to the Her Sports Running Club. The membership includes a free subscription to Her Sport + Fitness magazine, an Avia running singlet, Headsweats cap, Drymax socks, Yakz discounts on GU products.

Wow! There I was feeling anything but tireless, enthusiastic or energetic, and then I read that post and my enthusiasm came rushing back. Thank you so much Amy & Tom for your tireless efforts on behalf of the running community, for always having a kind word or helpful bit of advice, for reaching out to new runners, and for providing us with a wonderful forum to meet and share information. Oh, and thanks for the really cool stuff!

I didn’t get out for my walk on Sunday, but I did get out for a 4 mile run on Saturday before work started spiraling out of control. That is my longest run since the Mardi Gras Marathon in February. I still have some pain in my ankle, but it is slowly getting better, and running seems to be helping, or at least not making things worse. I’m also taking several walks per day with my best friend. Sometimes we even jog a little. She would run me into the ground if I would let her, but I don’t let her!
